Identify archaeological sites that may be impacted by the proposed road rehabilitation.
The project identified archaeological sites located within the Project Study area. Avoidance of these archaeological sites was not possible, so management recommendations included construction monitoring under an Heritage Conservation Act alteration permit to mitigate the site alterations.
The AIA focused on archaeological sites and areas of potential (AOPs) around wetlands at ʔaq̓am that were identified during a 2022 Preliminary Field Reconnaissance. The AIA identified archaeological sites and provided management recommendations for the proposed wetland rehabilitation.
