Vegetation data collection and plot development to assess wildfire impacts of 2023 St. Mary's Wildfire to inform future land management decisions.
Develop vegetation plots throughout area affected by St. Marys wildfire and collect vegetation inventory data.
Vegetation data regarding vegetation survival post-wildfire, invasive species populations, and the development of semi-permanent vegetation plots for subsequent internal vegetation assessments. The team at the Nupqu Native Plant Nursery is grateful to have had the opportunity to develop vegetation plots within the Kootenay IR 1 and collect vegetation data that will contribute to future land management decisions. Community involvement was also an important component of the project and Nupqu staff facilitated a session on the land where the vegetation findings and plant behaviour and identification methods were shared with ʔaq̓amnik̓.
